Each Girl Scout Troop must have at least one registered and trained adult who assumes primary responsibility for that troop. Required training for those leading a troop consist of the following three courses and must be taken in order.
Getting Started: Orientation to Girl Scout Troop Leadership
Get the information you need to start your troop, including knowledge of the council policies and procedures, membership standards, safety procedures, involving parents and your first four meetings. This course is REQUIRED within three months of your appointment as a leader.
Helping Girls Grow: Basic Troop Leadership
This training focuses on the basic leadership of Girl Scout troops. It includes adult responsibilities, money management, fund-raising, health/safety standards, girl-adult partnership, and progression in Girl Scouting. This course is required within 6 months of appointment as leader.
Prerequisite: Getting Started.
Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior Troop Program
This course covers the level program and gives leaders tips and tools for organizing a fun year. Topics include age level characteristics, age appropriate troop government, resources, program, and bridging. This course is required within 6 months of appointment as leader.
